Did you know that the liver is the main organ of detoxification? It is such a crucial organ for our body, and keeping it healthy can help us prevent many (if not most) health problems and reverse disease. All our blood and its many impurities get filtered through the liver.

So why is it important to keep your liver cleansed?

Why not? After all, 95% of us have some form of liver congestion or sluggishness. Our liver gets congested with so many things that we do daily. When it is congested, you have more chances of developing gallstones too.

There are so many healthy habits that you can follow to help your liver get healthier, but here are my top 5 favourite ones:

  1. Don’t eat too late in the evening. Stop eating at 4-5-6 pm at the latest. You want to make sure you stop eating at least 3 to 4 hours before you go to bed. You know you are eating too late at night if you wake up between 1-3 am and can’t get back to sleep. Remember that your liver time is at 1-3 am. The less you eat in the evening, the faster you will heal.
  2. Eat turmeric daily—it has amazing anti-inflammatory properties as well as antioxidants. There have been so many studies that show how taking turmeric every day can help reduce liver enzymes, fatty liver, or a congested liver. Turmeric also improves bile products, which helps with detoxification and preventing fat buildup.
  3. Have spirulina regularly! Spirulina is a protein-rich algae that contains antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Spirulina keeps you alkaline, and it prevents liver damage from toxins. Studies have also shown to reduce the fatty deposits in the liver, therefore helping with a fatty liver. It also can help eliminate free radicals and chelate harmful metals before they make it to the liver.
  4. Drink enough water! I would recommend a min. of 2 to 3 L per day. After taking your vitamins and antioxidants, you need to drink water to flush them all out. You cannot keep the liver cleansed and flushed without drinking enough water; after all, our body is 70-80% water!
  5. Get one colonic every month! Colonics are safe and gentle infusions of warm filtered water in the rectum for therapeutic cleansing. Although one of the obvious goals of colonics is to flush out accumulated fecal waste, harmful bacteria, intestinal parasites, gas, mucous, and so much more, another very important goal is to flush out the liver. All of the water that is used during your colonic session gets absorbed from the colon into the hepatic vessels, flushing out your liver entirely. There is no liver flush more powerful than a colonic!
