When we deal with chronic stress our adrenal glands get affected. At first they start over functioning but eventually, if the stress persists, they become fatigued and we feel burned out. This burn out can lead to low energy, weight gain, poor focus or memory, irritability, depression and an increased risk of getting sick with colds and flus.
We hope that during the summer months we will have enough time to recover, rest, take time off and feel stronger and ready for another busy year and winter ahead of us.
But do we really have time to relax and recover?
A number of patients come to see me in September complaining that they didn’t. They start worrying that they are still feeling tired and stressed and this can lead them to have a rough time with their immune system during the coming winter.
