Don’t Get Sick With The Flu This Winter

Written by Dr. Sandra Miranda, ND

Reminder- take advantage of your extended healthcare benefits before the end of the year. We always get really busy at the end of December when patients remember that they still have some coverage left that they would like to use. Call us and find out how we can help you!

The changes in the leaves and the drop in temperatures are signal to me that it is time to boost up our immune system. The main job of our immune system is to defend our body from infections – whether that is a simple virus, bacteria or fungus. There has already been a number of patients coming in with colds, flus, sinusitis or bronchitis this year. This doesn’t have to be you. Here are some of my favorite tips to stay healthy during the winter:

1.- Rosehip & Hisbiscus herbal tea – This tea is high in Vitamin C which is a great vitamin that works better at preventing infections. You can brew it into a tea and drink it either hot or cold. Not only will you be receiving a range of health benefits from this tea but it will also help keep you hydrated. Of course, do not add any sugar to it!

2.- Oregano Oil – anyone who knows me knows that I have a lot of faith on Oregano Oil – one of nature’s most powerful flu fighter. Yes, I know it is spicy, but having some water right after may help. But it really really works. It is a great anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. It doesn’t matter what infection you are dealing with, there are good chances that oregano oil can help. At home, we use it as soon as we feel the first sign of a cold or flu or if we have been around anyone who has been sick.

3.- Booster Drink – during my 15 years of practice, we have offered a special Booster Drink that has been studied extensively. This drink is a combination of different homeopathic remedies that have been shown to decrease the frequency of colds and flus. And if you still get sick, the drink decreases the intensity of symptoms (such as energy, lack of appetite, thirst, insomnia, chills, sore throats, earaches, pain, headaches, runny nose and coughing), and it decreases the length of time of your colds and flus.

The benefits of the booster drink lasts an average of 32 days. Most patients come in once a month to get their booster drink. It is a great alternative for anyone who feels that what they are currently doing at home is not enough to prevent getting sick.

If you would like help in boosting up your immune system or if you are interested in the booster drink, call us or email us today 905-239-3900.
