Mood swings can really take a toll on a woman’s life, and if you’ve ever felt like your emotions are all over the place for no clear reason, you’re definitely not alone. One minute you feel fine, and the next you’re irritated, anxious, or just completely drained—it can be frustrating and confusing.

A lot of the time, these mood shifts are connected to what’s happening inside your body, especially with your hormones. Think of hormones as little messengers that help regulate how you feel, sleep, and function day to day. When they’re out of balance, it can throw everything off—including your mood.

For many women, feelings of anxiety or depression can actually be linked to hormonal imbalances. For example, cortisol—your stress hormone—can play a big role. If your cortisol levels are too high (which can happen when you’re constantly stressed), you might feel on edge, overwhelmed, or unable to relax. But if cortisol is too low, it can leave you feeling exhausted, unmotivated, and emotionally flat.

Then there’s estrogen, which is closely tied to serotonin—the “feel-good” chemical in your brain. If estrogen levels are too high or too low, it can lead to mood swings, sadness, or feeling extra sensitive. Progesterone is another important hormone; when it’s low, it can make it harder to feel calm and balanced, often increasing feelings of anxiety.

Insulin also plays a part, even though we don’t always think about it in terms of mood. When insulin is too high, it can cause blood sugar ups and downs, which can leave you feeling irritable, shaky, or tired—almost like an emotional rollercoaster.

Remember that at least 90% of all cases of depression and anxiety are from a hormonal imbalance.  The key is to find out which hormone is off balance in your body.  A comprehensive functional blood test can help us figure this out. Hormones are a big piece of the puzzle when it comes to mental health.

The good news is that once we find out which hormone(s) are off balance in your body, you can take steps to feel more like yourself again. Whether it’s through lifestyle changes, nutritional changes, managing stress, or getting the right support with detoxification programs or IV vitamin treatments – balance is possible—and you deserve to feel steady, calm, and in control.
