Healthy Mocha Recipe with MCT Oil

MCT oil is a dietary supplement that is made up of medium chain triglycerides which are fats that can be found in coconut oil, palm kernel oil and dairy products.  At the clinic we recommend a 100% pure one made out of coconut oil.

MCT oil is easily digested and here are its main benefits:

  • Better brain and memory function – therefore helping to prevent and to treat dementia.
  • Energy boost and increased endurance – and because it is so easily digested, the effects are quick.
  • Promotes weight loss because it helps release hormones that make us feel full
  • Helps to reduce lactate build-up in athletes and it helps use fat for energy
  • Lower cholesterol
  • Lowers blood sugar levels and support diabetes management

Above all it tastes great and it gives you a sense of satiety so that you don’t get hungry for a few hours after having it.  Great trick if you are trying to lose weight!!

Here is a recipe for a healthy mocha that you can have every morning, ideally after your protein shake.  I have been drinking this for the past 2 weeks and I am hooked! I love it and it helps me to stay focused in the mornings which are usually busy for me.  

Dr Miranda’s Healthy Mocha recipe:  

  • Blend together the following ingredients:
    • 8 oz Swiss Water Decaf coffee + 1 tsp of cacao powder + 2 oz of either cashew or coconut or soy milk + 1 tbsp of MCT oil (from coconut) + 2 drops of stevia or 1 packet of monk fruit sweetener (optional)

Alternatively, you can also add it to your protein shake or to a salad dressing.  Ideally you want to keep it to about 1-2 tbsp per day.
