How Much Water Do You Really Need This Summer?
Hot weather + busy days = higher risk of dehydration—and it’s not just kids or seniors who are vulnerable. We all need to pay attention to hydration during the summer months.
But how much water do you actually need? Use this simple formula:
Take your weight in pounds and divide it by 73.3.
That’s the number of litres you should aim to drink daily.
Example: 160 lbs ÷ 73.3 = about 2.2 L per day
And remember—if you’re sweating more, moving more, or spending time outside, you’ll need even more than that.
Add Electrolytes for Better Absorption
Water alone sometimes isn’t enough. To stay properly hydrated, your body needs electrolytes like sodium, potassium, and magnesium.
Here’s a simple DIY electrolyte recipe (from our website):
1 litre of filtered water
Juice of ½ lemon
Pinch of sea salt
1 tsp honey or maple syrup
Optional: ¼ tsp magnesium powder
Sip throughout the day—especially before and after outdoor activities.
Staying hydrated helps you feel energized, clear-headed, and strong. Your summer body (and brain) will thank you!
