We are officially in the middle of summer—and I’ll be honest, I love this season, but I also notice a very real shift in my own body.

I often start summer feeling energized and excited to do more—longer days, more time outside, more plans. But once the real heat and heat waves settle in, I notice my capacity changes. I don’t recover the same way, I feel more tired by the afternoon, and even things I normally enjoy can start to feel like “a bit too much.” It feels like my system naturally shifts into energy conservation mode, even when my mind still wants to keep going.

And I hear this from so many women I work with.

By mid-summer, many women in their 40s, 50s, and early 60s start to feel more fatigued, foggy, and less resilient than earlier in the season. Sleep can feel lighter, mornings feel harder, and emotional bandwidth feels lower.

There’s a physiological reason for this.

Heat itself is a stressor on the body, and when you combine that with busy schedules, travel, disrupted routines, and poor sleep, cortisol can start to fluctuate—going up and down more unpredictably. When cortisol is dysregulated, it can influence other key hormones, including progesterone and estrogen. This is why some women notice more irritability, poorer sleep, heavier fatigue, or feeling “off” during hotter periods.

You might notice:
• Lower morning energy
• Feeling more easily overwhelmed
• Less restorative sleep
• Brain fog or mental fatigue

August is actually an important reset point. What you do now can influence how you feel heading into September when life typically speeds up again.

Instead of pushing through, this is a time for replenishment—hydration, rest, nutrient support, and nervous system regulation.

For some women, supportive therapies like IV nutrient therapy can also help restore energy and resilience during this seasonal transition.

The goal is not to push harder—it’s to restore balance so your body has more capacity moving forward.

Does this happen to you too?
