Saliva Hormone Test
Saliva hormone testing is a non-invasive collection method where patients collect their saliva in plastic tubes at different times of the day. The purpose of this test is to measure hormones such as cortisol, estrogens, progesterone and androgens (Testosterone and DHEA).
Most of our hormones in our blood are bound to carrier proteins and in this form, they are unavailable to target tissues. Saliva testing measures the amount of hormone not-bound to proteins and therefore the ones available to target tissues – called the bio-available ones.
