Vitamin C does a lot more than just support your immune system.  It is required for healing, for collagen (the most prominent protein in our body), for hormone production, for our stress response, and as an antioxidant.  The highest concentration of vitamin C in our body is in our brain and our adrenal glands.

There are some amazing tasty food sources of vitamin C such as fruits and vegetables. Some of my favorites are guava, bell peppers, oranges, kiwi, broccoli, papaya, organic strawberries (remember they are part of the dirty dozen), etc.   Remember the source of your vitamins are as important as the amount that you consume.

The one thing that most patients do not know about vitamin C is that the absorption of this wonderful vitamin taken orally is limited in the gut.  Once your blood levels reach 200-400 mg per day, it stops absorbing.  And let’s face it taking too much vitamin C orally is just not a good idea – not only are you not absorb it, but it will cause terrible lose stools.

On the other hand, IV vitamin C goes 100% to your bloodstream, making the absorption issue non-existent. IV vitamin C can reach 30 to 100 x higher blood concentration levels than oral vitamin C.  The therapeutic effect of vitamin C is greater when we reach these higher concentrations in the blood. This is why we always add a good amount of vitamin C to all our IV vitamin treatments at the clinic. Patients who have been sick, tired, stressed and burned out for a long time or patients who are simply looking for quick effective natural ways of healing and boosting up their bodies, are perfect candidates for IV vitamin C treatments.
