One thing I’ve learned over the years is that I should feel amazing in the summer. With more sunshine, longer days, and more time outdoors, my energy should be at least an 8 or 9 out of 10. If it’s not, that’s my signal that something is off and it’s time to check my hormones with our functional blood work (which is a lot more thorough than the blood work patients normally get done during an annual physical with their medical doctors).
If you’re still feeling tired, foggy, or unmotivated even though the weather is beautiful, you’re not alone. But what if there is an easy natural solution for your problem?
After a long winter of stress, poor sleep, and busy schedules, many women are left depleted in nutrients like magnesium, B vitamins, iron, and vitamin D. Chronic stress can also disrupt cortisol, thyroid hormones, progesterone, and estrogen—leading to fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, and poor sleep.
The good news? Summer is the perfect time to reset.
Start with the basics: eat plenty of whole foods only, like protein, colourful vegetables, healthy fats, and fibre to support blood sugar and hormone balance. Prioritize sleep, enjoy daily walks, and make time to truly relax.
Targeted supplements such as magnesium, B vitamins, probiotics, and adaptogenic herbs can help restore energy and support adrenal and thyroid function.
For some women, bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can be a game changer. Balancing progesterone, estrogen, thyroid, or testosterone can improve sleep, mood, focus, and overall vitality. A functional blood test will let us know which hormone is deficiency and therefore which bio-identical cream is the best one for you.
I always encourage my patients to use the summer months to refill their cup and prepare their bodies for the busy fall season ahead.
If your energy isn’t where it should be, don’t ignore it. Your body may be asking for support. With the right testing and a personalized treatment plan, you can feel vibrant, balanced, and full of energy again.
