How To Choose Your Supplements Wisely

Food is the best way to get all your nutrients. However, in the rushed world that we live in, you may find yourself not taking in all the nutrients that you need from your diet. If you are not sure what supplements to take, please ask your naturopathic doctor for guidance. This is specially important if you are currently pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medication. 75% Of People In North America Are Deficient In Vitamin D! Are you?

Recent studies show that in order to receive the best levels of protection our blood vitamin D levels should be about 120-200 nmol/l. One of the main things my patients benefit from is making sure they have a good breakfast which should include at least 15 g of protein. Then, you MUST eat a snack by 10am to replenish your energy requirements, or ideally you want to have an early lunch (before noon), a nutritious snack by 2pm-3pm and your evening meal should be eaten between 5pm-6pm.

What I am certain of is that in my practice I see many different types of health problems improving when patient’s stop eating gluten such as, bloating and gassiness, constipation or diarrhea, skin rashes, foggy thinking and fatigue, and even hyperactivity in ADHD kids. I even had one patient’s hot flashes significantly decrease when she stopped eating bread. These are patients who are not celiac and still feel better when they are off gluten- and it may not be 100% off but at least 90% off.
